Windows 10 Worth It Right Now?

Just curious if there's any real reason for me to upgrade to windows 10 for gaming right now. Will performance actually improve at all? Also is DirectX 12 actually released as of now, and if so will games that are actually out now start to use it.

Being as how it is free, it is hard to say it isn't worth it.
But if you are like many folks that are perfectly happy with Win7, there really isn't a pressing need. I am in the process of doing some benchmarks I have accumulated over the years with Win7 and comparing them to Win 10. I'm using my older Phenom II X4 @ 4.0 GHz and an Evga GTX 960 FTW. So far, the only one that seems to make a difference is the Firestrike benchmark. The rest are pretty much the same as with Win7.

I have to say, I've been using the technical version for a while now on my worktop, I can tell you it really is win7 with the more useful parts of win8. In that respect, I say it's worth every penny if you have to pay for it, and if you have the free upgrade, do it to it.

As of right now I using 10, it seems to be the same performance wise, but down the line with new features/lack of old support on the horizon, might as well get it while its free.
If you wanted to, you could wait until the end of the free window.

I tested the "upgrade" from Win7 as opposed to a clean install. I was amazed at how well it went. Nothing like the upgrades in the past. Everything worked with no glitches. And this on an old platform. I am now rolling it back to test that aspect. But so far, all is smooth.

I heard the rolling back can be problematic, the rest went smooth for me as well.

The roll back completed perfectly. I'm amazed. Was expecting trouble. Everything looks like it did before I updated. Even still have the Win10 icon in my tray. The Win 10 installation folder is gone, too.
