Windows 11 Icons turned into "squares"

Hey y'all
For some reason, the icons in the startup screen have turned into squares!

I've read that this issue is related to the "Segoe" font.

What I have done:
- I have reinstalled the "Segoe" font collection from another win 11 folder but still the same.
- Deleted the old version from "AppData/Microsoft/Windows/Fonts"

I was hoping if you could help me out to solve this issue.

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

If I were you, I'd have performed a system restore to a point prior to the issue cropping up(which might've been after an OS update), backed up mission critical content and then made prep for a clean install of the OS after the bootable USB installer was recreated using Windows Media Creation Tools.

Hi, thanks for your reply.
Unfortunately, I haven't performed any sys restore since I installed the windows! and if I did, I don't think I will backup as it's gonna be left as a last resort.
I believe there's gotta be a practical solution to this issue without having to backup the windows.

Try creating a new Windows user account.

I would also try DISM and SFC.
