Question Windows 11 - Sleep Problem

I have recently purchased a Beelink SER6 pro 7735HS running Windows 11. The problem I've been having is that it won't go into Sleep mode, either by selecting that power option or oby pressing the power button.

I've now discovered that if I turn the wireless mouse off then my monitor goes into standby but the computer stays on. However, if I also remove the ethernet cable then the computer goes into standby as well. Clearly, this is not a practical proposition going forward. I've use device manager to uncheck the option for the mouse and LAN to wake the computer up but that makes no difference. Also, I've disabled everything I can in the power plan and similarly in the Local Group Editor. No difference. The various cmd powercfg options reveal nothing interesting at all.

Can anyone help with this please?

All windows updates done, all drivers on the latest versions. Don't really know anything about the BIOS but the version is:

Update your post to include full system hardware specs and OS information (Windows 11 noted - Edition, version, etc.?)

Make and model mouse?

Take a closer look at the system's power settings via "powercfg".

Post the results of "powercfg /List" and the other options that you looked at.

May not appear interesting per se but in the full context someone may spot a potential issue or conflict.

GPO - there are quite a number of power related settings within GPO. Some settings may need to be configured before they can be applied or become effective. And they may interact with other settings.

For example: Screen Saver Timeout:

Specifies how much user idle time must elapse before the screen saver is launched.

When configured, this idle time can be set from a minimum of 1 second to a maximum of 86,400 seconds, or 24 hours. If set to zero, the screen saver will not be started.

This setting has no effect under any of the following circumstances:

- The setting is disabled or not configured.

- The wait time is set to zero.

- The "Enable Screen Saver" setting is disabled.

- Neither the "Screen saver executable name" setting nor the Screen Saver dialog of the client computer's Personalization or Display Control Panel specifies a valid existing screen saver program on the client.

When not configured, whatever wait time is set on the client through the Screen Saver dialog in the Personalization or Display Control Panel is used. The default is 15 minutes.

You mentioned behavior related to unplugging the network cable.

GPO: look in Network Connections - my system lists 22 possible settings. (All of which are in a State of "Not configured".)

Hopefully the problem is simply some sort of circular configuration preventing the Beelink from sleeping.

Key is to first understand the current power/sleep configuration settings and what is establishing and controlling those specific configuration settings.

Then look for the applicable changes that are necessary to achieve the required sleep behavior.

Look in Reliability History and Event Viewer. Either one or both tools may be capturing some error codes, warnings, or simply informational events relevant to the observed sleep behavior and problems.

Another tool that can be used is Process Explorer (Microsoft, free).

Objective being to discover what, if anything, is running (or has stopped running) that can be identified with power and/or sleep.

Likewise for Task Scheduler:

Perhaps (as a stretched example) turning off the wireless mouse may be triggering something that puts the monitor into standby.

I'm running a balanced power plan which is set to turn off the display after 5 mins (which works) and put the computer to sleep after 5 mins (which doesn't).

I also restored the plan defaults on the advanced settings tab of power options

My system is the same.

I used the Event Viewer to discover that my mouse was waking the system up which led me to switch it off. Removal of the LAN cable was just a guess.

I'll have a look at the Process Explorer link as well.
