Question windows 11 still detecting 3rd display when hdmi switch on another input

i have a pc with 2 display port monitors and i'm trying to have a 3rd display through hdmi to my tv sometimes. my pc is pretty much always on but i don't want the 3rd display all the time so i was hoping the hdmi switch would be just like unplugging the cable and it would just switch back to my normal 2 display mode when the hdmi switch is on a different input but that's not what happens. the screens go black for a second like it detects a change but when they come back it's still in 3 display mode even when another input is active. i even made sure i got a uni-directional switch without the auto switch feature so i wouldn't have the problem of it switching back to an active input when the current one is turned off.

does anybody know of an hdmi switch that can do this or is it even possible to do this without having to manually disconnect the 3rd display through the display settings.

Can you provide link to HDMI switch, you're using?

Also make a photo (or draw a diagram) to show,
how you have connected your monitors, TV and HDMI switch.

that's how i have it set up. just to be clear everything with the switch works. my tv displays the ps5 input like it should but windows still detects the 3rd monitor even when the switch has the ps5 input selected.
