Everywhere I read that the requirement for Win11 is 64gb+ of storage. Is this just the minimum recommendation or is there a "preferred" amount of storage that should be used? I would like to make sure that I have enough space on my ssd(boot) but I also don't wan't to overdo it if the amount of storage on the ssd is going to go to waste.

Solution
I'm currently building a pc and was just thinking it would be better to have a ssd for the OS and some other apps like yours, but use another ssd for things like games and streaming stuff along with photo & video storage.
For that, 250GB absolute min, 500GB SSD preferred.
Along with whatever other drives meet your space needs and budget.

Drive space is totally dependent on your needs.

Absolute minimum, they say 64GB.
That is not really enough. It will run, and then when the annual/semi annual update rolls around...problems.

Do NOT create a 64GB partition to install in, and hope that is fine. It is not.

Generally, a 250GB SSD minimum. Larger, or other dries as you need.

More space is never 'wasted'.
If you're going for a single drive, 1TB or so.

So 1TB for a boot drive isn't overkill?

Depends on what other drives are on this system, and what you use it for.

My current system has a 500GB SSD for the OS drive.
OS and all applications.
I personally would not go any smaller.

Along with 6 other SSDs for other stuff.

It is NOT just 'the boot drive'.
OS and applications.

Some people recommend a single drive for everything.
Makes things easy.

Others, like me, have it more split.
1 drive for the OS and applications, other drives for other things.
