News Windows 11 Up Brings New Search Box, But AI Integration is Hype

However, the real star of the show is a new search box that's integrated into the taskbar and features a prominent promotion for "the new Bing."

Windows 11 is not an OS, it's ad malware for Bing.

I watched a video from a Windows 11 user. Setting something else than Edge as default is a small nightmare where he had to check like 10 boxes. And he gets spammed every 5 reboots to reset Edge as the default.

Microsoft would need to pay me to willingly use Windows 11, a lot.

Vista and Windows 8 were bad...Windows 11 is a privacy and Bing spamming nightmare that makes Vista look like the best thing since sliced bread.

Tabbed Notepad

A small prayer for the MySpace users still using Notepad.

May they find the light and discover Notepad++ and Sublime one day.

did i just read "windows 365" in the end ? ok so they started selling their OS as a service ? i believed it was already the case with W11 but that's another step.
next step what ? we would just have a small kernel running on our hadware, and everything else streamed along ?

sounds like a dystopian future akin to Cyberpunk 2077/edgerunner where you have to do micro transactions all day and pretty much need to shell of $$ daily to keep your software up to date and keep your rights as a citizen.

i am still installing W10 rigs every other week (im IT in a small business), the various debloating scripts are a blessing. I wonder for how much time...

funny thing i had to install W8.1 for a banking app that needs internet explorer. And it felt really good ! I forgot how it was like W10 without the ads and nonsense. Loved it.

XSearch is one of the 3rd party programs that makes my Windows 7 & 10 usage more tolerable.
I keep my files fairly organized & never want any programs to index stuff or to access the internet. If I want to search from online, then I'll open a browser myself.

The sniping tool getting video recording is really cool. I think that's like the most interesting "new" feature I've read they've added so far.

Everything else is fluff I don't really find use for (or dislike), unfortunately.

Also, the TPM requirement I was told is super stupid: it asks for TPM to be there and active, but Win11 doesn't use it unless you activate bitlocker.

Regards.

That was for an older version of Windows 11.
I have had zero problems with setting Chrome as the default browser.
