Hello everyone,
Microsoft has recently confirmed an issue affecting Windows 11 users who installed the October and November patches before upgrading to version 24H2 using external media, such as a USB drive, CD, or by mounting an ISO. Unfortunately, I am one of the users affected by this problem.
Here’s my situation:
I was running Windows 11 version 23H2 but encountered some system issues, prompting me to perform an upgrade. I mounted the 24H2 ISO and let it install. Initially, the upgrade process seemed smooth, and I did not encounter any issues. However, yesterday, I noticed that Windows Update was no longer functioning—it continuously attempted to check for updates without success.
Microsoft has acknowledged this issue and offered a workaround. However, the workaround involves performing a complete OS reinstall. Since I installed 24H2 after the December patch was released, I am uncertain if this workaround will resolve my issue.
Additionally, I am not experienced with reinstalling Windows using a USB drive, and I am hesitant to take this step at the moment. Microsoft has promised to fix this problem by January, which leaves me in a dilemma:
Best regards,
Anderson

- Should I wait until January for Microsoft to release a fix?
- Would mounting and installing a new ISO resolve the issue, even though I suspect it might not?
