Windows 11 won't hibernate after inactivity

I am aware of this option not even being available in Windows 11 I can't understand why MS do things like this and remove vital options entirely from the OS

I re enabled it via CMD by running
powercfg /hibernate on
powercfg /h /type full

However windows doesn't respect the settings. I set it to hibernate after 1 minute of inactivity but it won't hibernate, the laptop runs forever until I manually turn it off. I even set it to sleep after 1 minute but it won't sleep either, its ignoring the settings

This option was designed for laptops and might not be available for all PCs. (For example, PCs with InstantGo don't have the hibernate option.) Hibernate uses less power than sleep and when you start up the PC again, you’re back to where you left off (though not as fast as sleep).


Use hibernation when you know that you won't use your laptop or tablet for an extended period and won't have an opportunity to charge the battery during that time. First check to see if this option is available on your PC and if it is, turn it on.

My laptop will hibernate if I do it manually with power options on start menu, with a 3rd party hibernation timer and when pressing the physical power button. It is not incapable of this option.

It won't hibernate or even go to sleep after x minutes of inactivity as set in Power Options in the Control Panel
