Abhraneel Roy :
I have a windows 7 32bit. I want to upgrage to windows 7 64 bit.
Do i have to buy the microsoft windows 7 32 and 64bit or only the 64 bit ?
after that can you tell me how to install it.
Do i have to do the upgrade or the custom install in the installation.
Please answer these two question.
Normally (Unless your on a UPGRADE) the key works for both versions. Now you MAY be limited IF for example the manufacturer (Dell, Gateway, etc.) did something funky and ONLY provided the x32 key, then as a OEM key it MAY not work, but this is RARE, but not unheard of.
Get external drive. Click the Orb bottom left, search for Windows Easy Transfer. Backup your data and settings to ext drive. Wipe drive with a DBAN CD. Install Windows x64 clean.
Run Windows Updates install all updated INCLUDING OPTIONALS except BING? Check them and repeat till ALL are installed.
Download and run Slim Drivers, install all the latest updates for alot of the other things 'under the hood' the video card interfaces with, but you don't need to reboot until you do the last update
Get AVIRA http://www.avira.com/en/download/product/avira-free-ant... (or go to www.filehippo.com and download Comodo/Panda or AVG (AVAST! was hacked so I don't recommend them anymore))
Download Malwarebytes (AV doesn't pick up alot of malware)
Install all your applications. Get Ext. HDD, Click the Orb bottom left, search for Windows Easy Transfer. restore your data and settings SOMETHINGS WILL NOT BE EXACT BECAUSE YOU CHANGED TO x64. Done.
