Windows 7 64 bit seeing only 2.87 of 4gb memory

hi,

my windows 7 64 bit system is only seeing 2.87gb of the 4gb installed memory. checking the Resource Monitor, it says 1153gb has been allocated to Hardware Reserved. any idea how i can use all the memory? i have already tried unchecking Maximum memory under msconfig/boot/advanced options without success. below is my system properties.

thanks for all the replies, i believe its due to the 945p chipset limitation.

I believe the Kernal is reserving some of that RAM for its own purpose, just like how 2GB was set aside for the kernal by default on Win32. I have no way to confirm this though...

my motherboard does have the latest bios, however it was made in 2007. abit went out of business in 2008 so i doubt there will ever be an update.

I have a similar problem. I have 12GB installed, but only 4GB show up as usable both in the BIOS and under Computer Properties. My computer components are listed under my profile.

Gandalf, your problem is different. Are you using Windows 7 32-bit instead of 64-bit?

Exactly, I agree with the last post.. There could only be two explanations. The most likely is that you are running 32-bit version of windows. The other is that you need a bios upgrade...

I solved my own problem, thanks. I reseated all the strips and now the BIOS and Windows Properties see all of the 12GB.

If the modules were not fully inserted, then the BIOS probably didn't see all 12GB either.
