Windows 7 64-bit showing 4GB RAM instead of 6GB

Hi there. I recently installed 64-bit Windows 7 on my new computer I built a few days ago and I have no clue as to why it only shows my memory at 4GBs. My BIOS show the same thing, however CPU-Z says I have the appropriate 6GBs. The "Maximum Memory" option is unchecked in msconfig, by the way. Does anyone know what may be causing this issue? Thank you.

if it only doesnt show in the bios, i'd say faulty RAM module, a lot of the diagnostics programs display the RAM info based on the SKU numer accessed from the module itself, however the OS and BIOS probably run a quick test to determine the usable RAM.

the way to find out is to use one module at a time and see what it says to find the faulty one, also check to see the modules are in the correct slots.

Also check your BIOS for any settings that limit RAM

If it's not showing in the Bios, then it's a hardware issue. Test and check accordingly, please.

Yeah, I tested each stick one at a time and figured out that it was one of the three that's not working. Sent in for an RMA to Newegg just a moment ago. Thanks
