Windows 7 and sharing memory

Today i installed windows 7 ultimate on my laptop. My graphic ram before install 256mb and after 756mb. Dxdiag says 600mb is shared memory. Whats the shared memory and effect gaming performance?

Nothing. If you run out of video memory, you will start using your system memory. This causes a bottleneck and slow things down. This feature has been available since the days of AGP slots.
