Windows 7 and Xeon slow

Hi

I started working with Windows 7 on a workstation fitted with 2 Xeon E5620 (2.40GHz) and 16GB machine and, even though it has everything to feel like a Ferrari, it keeps dragging on simple tasks like browsing on the internet, writing (email or even this message), Scrolling up and down, not to mention the tremendous boot time. It is so annoyingly frustrating!! ARGGHHHH

Plus 1) the "windows experience index" reports 7.7 on processor and memory, 7.2 for graphics and 5.9 for Data transfer. Again, it looks like a Ferrari but preforms like a lazy Beast!

Plus 2) Looking to the Windows Task manager, I noticed the first thread is never quiet, with usage percentagse oscillating continuously around 65%, even when idle. I tried to find which service/process was using the thread but all services/processes in the Task Manager showed 0% cpu usage.

Does anybody have a clue of what is happening here?

Thanks
Jose

I have been googling my problem a lot and it seems I am not the only one having this problem. However, even though this is true, I couldn't find any usefull solution for it.

I noticed that this problem is very visible in video playbak, either while streaming from youtube or vimeo or using a video file in my HD with vlc, for instance.

Also, one can see this issue while scrolling up and down in a browser or even in the explorer.

I suspect this started when I instaled the nvidia driver for the video card. Has I mentioned earlier, this is a nvidia GTS450.

I have installed all windows updates available so far.

Any clue?

Cheers

Hi

I have just uninstalled the nvidia driver and restarted with the built-in microsoft driver the the problem presisted. So my suspection was wrong.

However a comflict of some kind is still causing the problem. I seen in one of the foruns that this could be related to a network card conflict. Is it possible?? How can I check if thare is a conflict with my Win7 system?

cheers
