Windows 7 audio not working

ok , so i recently installed win 7 and the sound is not working . it shows " no speakers or headphones are plugged in" . I tried everything , i tried to install realtek HD audio driver . but it tells me that the driver failed to install , i tried uninstalling the audio driver and reinstalling it . still , the driver failed to install. also i tried windows update . and when i try to update from " device manager " i get this error : "Windows encountered a problem installing the driver software for your device" , " the extended attributes are inconsistent "

Are you trying the drivers from the computer/motherboard maker support? Did you install the chipset drivers first?

yes I did , but nvm the audio is now working for some reason . after i installed some more windows updates
