Hi guys. I'm back once again to drink from the knowledge fountain and hopefully solve something which is driving me positively mental.

A couple years back I bought a Razer Orochi. While I had planned to use it wirelessly on occasion, I couldn't get it to pair at the time so resumed with wired mode without a problem. I am now at the stage where I would like to start using it wirelessly (mainly for convenience) but I am yet again having issues pairing.

I sold my previous dongle to a friend so have now purchased an Asus USB-BT400 dongle instead. I planned to install everything, sync up the mouse and resume my usual day-to-day use but it is having none of it. No matter what I try, what fixes I've found online, my PC will simply not find either my Razer Orochi or my Galaxy S6 (used as another test item).

The phone picks up my PC but when I try to pair it gives me the passkey on the phone but nowhere on my PC to put it in. The Orochi just sits in pair mode and doesn't react / PC doesn't find it. I have checked everything I can - bluetooth service is on, bluetooth radio is on, dongle is functioning, drivers on both the dongle and mouse are current. The PC just will not find any devices.

A few points of concern:
- I have two bluetooth services available - the standard Windows bluetooth stack and a third-party one presumably installed with the Asus software. Which one of these should I have enabled? (I also have not one but two bluetooth radios appearing in device manager)
- When I disable the Windows stack the bluetooth icon remains in my system tray but I can no longer access settings. It will allow me to open the 'Add a device' screen but again just sits there looking with no results.

I am hoping there is something simple I am missing or can try next. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Cheers, HB

Fixed it! At long last - my Razer Orochi is paired and my troubles are over. I have to share the fix on here as it was something so simple and it will hopefully help others in future with the same issue.

So here goes. Once I had my PC's Asus bluetooth dongle picking up devices (this involved changing the log in info within services.msc which seemed random to me) I could pair items such as my phone but still not the Orochi. Having no way of seeing what the mouse itself was trying to do (as it has no indicators except the flashing light during pairing) I was left stumped.

When testing with my phone I then noticed that another bluetooth signal was being picked up called 'DTV Bluetooth'. I assumed this was one of 3 Smart TVs in the house so I went about switching them off by the mains until I found which one it was (ended up being the one I use as my PC monitor). I tried to select the TV on my phone to pair it but the TV doesn't provide any indication something is trying to connect. It must be that it is reserved for a particular accessory or service I guess? I also tried disabling it through the menus but it turned out it doesn't have the option anywhere which was not helpful.

So I turned the TV off by the mains and took my tower to another TV. I used my phone to see if any other signals were present and there was nothing. I then tried to 'Add a device' on the bluetooth settings and bang - the Orochi mouse appeared! Click to pair and it was done. Just like that.

So there you have it. A rogue bluetooth signal from a Smart TV which I couldn't disable was the issue all along. I can only hope this helps some poor person avoid the troubles I've had these last couple days.

Thanks for reading. HB
