Windows 7 boot much slower

My windows 7 computer started to take really long time to boot up. There is also a red screen after the windows logo which I have to wait through. Anyone know whats wrong?

No... but start with a full antivirus scan, using something good like BitDefender (there is a free edition for home users) and Malwarebytes (also free), then check the health of your hard drives.... and backup up your data first, if you haven't done that already

I found out while running from ubuntu that one of the hardrives is not responding. every other HD can be browsed from ubuntu. So maybe breaking HD is behind this. dont know, today the HD still seemed to work.

Edit now the HD seems to work again. it was just momentarily gone

Sounds like a dying hard drive.... vanishing and then re-appearing, super-slow loading, these are classic signs of a dying drive. Get everything you need off it while you can, then replace it

I got the HD working again by running windows check for errors on it. windows now boots at normal speed.
I guess its not dying, just needed a fix
