Windows 7 BSOD - Seeking minidump analysis!

Hello there. I just purchased Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. I upgraded from Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit. I would get BSODs from time to time and I thought they would go away once I upgraded. However, they have not. So as anybody would, I suspect it is hardware. But with my inexperience with minidumps, I am not able to analyze them as well as people on this forum. Google searches with past problems have led me to this forum and fixed many a problem for me. So I figured this was a good place to start.

So please, if anybody out there has the experience and generosity to help, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

--

Also I have attached a slew of the minidumps that have been created.

Minidump.zip

Edit: I am now going to bed. I was hoping I would get a reply before I became too tired but it is now 3:38 am. Hopefully I will find a reply when I wake up.

Is there anybody out there who can help me? I am in great need of an analysis. I think it may be heat related but I'm not sure.

If you stumble upon this thread and you have the experience to help me, but not the time. Please don't let this thread get buried into page 2. Bookmark it for later. Everyone knows how having a random bsod hit you is like. Well, at least I do. It really sucks. It ranges from 10 hours to 10 seconds after start up. Doesn't matter what you are doing. You can be writing that five page essay due tomorrow, or you can be playing games. There is no pattern to it at all.

So please if there is anybody out there who can help me, please, I am desperate. I don't want to have to go to the local computer guy as he charges $60 an hour of labor. So if it is a hardware problem I will need all the money I can get to afford a replacement part.

I have ran my latest mini dump through windbg and I was left with the following:

If anybody has even the slightest clue what could be the problem, please can you take a measly 5 minutes of your time to help me. I am so desperate and this is so frustrating. I can be working on essays I need for class and it could crash. Yes I save but I still lose some of it. I beg you, please help me. :(

You posted this one day ago and you're frustrated you're not getting a response? Are you paying for this service or am I missing something?

That being said, I have a similar issue. From what I've found this is either related to a chip set driver, or a video driver.

I'm running an HP xw4600 with W7 x64, 8GB RAM, Nvidia Quadro NVS 420, and an Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300.

Changing the video driver did change the behavior, but did not fix the issue. After updating to the most current video driver, it simply reboots the machine instead of a BSOD first.

The fact that you know how to convert the log from the .dmp file tells me you probably shouldn't be calling that "local tech guy" anyways. You're probably smart enough to figure this out with help online.

From what I've read, a good part of the log file to look at is this (example from my own log file):

fffff880`02f1bc98 00000000`00000000 : 00000000`00000000 00000000`00000000 00000000`00000000 00000000`00000000 : intelppm!C1Halt+0x2

The module name and image name sometimes have a specific program or application file name that will tell you what's going on. In our case it's not insanely helpful as it just says "hardware", but it's still valuable.

I've been looking for a good chipset driver for this proc for W7 x64 and haven't found one. So I've been playing with different video drivers and such as well. I'll post on here again if I have any more info that might help, and please do the same if you figure anything out.

Ok. Here's the deal. I have fixed my problem. For some reason, the gpu driver windows 7 downloaded via windows update was causing my BSODs. So I downloaded the latest drivers from nVidia.com and installed them, and problem solved. No more BSOD to date. I hope this also works for anyone coming here with the same problem.

I have been having the same problem, but most of my errors seem to stem from dxgmms1.sys. I am also running the GeForce 8800 GTS 512mb, with windows 7 64-bit. I am also running a Core i7 with 6Gb DDR3. From what i have been able to collect from searching the internet this is an issue with DirectX 11 which comes with Windows 7. ATI currently has two cards that are guaranteed compatible with DirectX 11, the 5750 and the 5770. Unfortunately i have yet to find any nvidia cards that are compatible. I have had great luck with running nvidia cards until this issue. I plan on picking up one of the ATI cards and seeing if this resolves the issue or not.
