At first when I saw the article title, I told myself "No, no way. Toms wouldn't write a whole article about a new wallpaper." Unfortunatley they did, and I wasted my time reading it.

Build 7229 x64 was a mess on my comp! Constant slow downs and errors, but, the RC worked flawlessly. I hope this build fixes the problems I experienced with 7229...

Anyone have a link for a confirmed safe/real x64 build???

OOOOoooooooo..... I like the new wallpaper... in fact.... I'm going to use it on windows XP. xD

If I get windows 7 i'm going to have a badass 3-D background to match whatever my theme is instead.

@ apmyhr

Wasting time is what browsing news articles is all about. Getting some info, and carrying on with your life. So stop complaining about 5 seconds wasted from your much busy schedule of randomly browsing the articles.

Not bad. Of course they would make it look appealing to the consumer. They already made a very good OS, why not make it pretty? I hope they did fix a lot of other bugs, which they should have, and updated security.

Not to mention writing about it...
Next time take a little more time in reading more carefully.

I'd remove it in a second...

Anyone can post the link to the download page of Win7 RC again?

Ooooooh, sparkles! However, this is a modified image. The real one has a couple My Little Ponies prancing in the background.

Umm old news now that 7260 was just leaked. Time to make sure your up to date. I am only finding the x32 version of it.

[citation][nom]lifeismusic434[/nom]Build 7260 has been leaked as well.[/citation]

I heard that 7260 is fake, per windows seven forums.

Ya this is actually already old news. The RTM Escrow builds have already started to be leaked. The first RTM Escrow was build "7260" and was compiled on June 12. And clearly that build didn't make the cut as build "7261" screenshots started popping up shortly after. Build "7260" was leaked as well so you can find it on torrent sites if you're interested.

But since they're already into RTM Escrow, the final RTM should only be a week or two away. Microsoft said RTM will finalize by July, while a very reputable source said the final build will be on June 19th. So people might as well just wait till the 19th. I give it till about the 21st before that gets leaked all over torrent sites.

It's not fake. Somebody said that they checked the version of the installer in the .iso image and it said version build 7229. This is because the 7260 that was leaked was a .vhd hard drive image. It's kind of like a Norton ghost image. That means that there is no installer for it or anything. A very trustworthy user took all of the system files from the .vhd 7260 build and swapped them with the system files from the 7229 .iso. So yes the installer is version 7229, but the files it is installing are in fact 7260. Can you trust that this is a perfect way of installing? I don't know exactly, I don't really trust it. That's why I'm waiting for a true .iso leak.

The fish was only applicable for the beta anyway (beta fish), so it really should have been changed in the initial RC release. It's does enhance the initial visual impression of the OS as a default.

Well since the first thing i'm gonna do is use a background of a lame family photo while i clutter the desktop full of icons that I spend 5min searching for the IE icon. Then I'm going to hop on Bonzia buddy, weather bug and yahoo search bar, and download the latest copy of malware and spyware [not the removers].

I see, thanks for clarifying! :)

Heh, I know 7260 is old news, just no one had posted it on here yet.

And yeah, cregan89 is right, it's not fake, but "they" had to repackage it with 7229's installer so people could use it.

This wallpaper really does remind me of the mandriva splash screens !
I cant remember exactly which versions used the one i am thinking of but it must have been either the spring '05 or the spring '07 version (i used those live CD's on laptops (The KDE version is in orange and the GNOME version in blue).

On another note:

I think in my above few lines which are 100% truth even though there might be variation in the actual release, i still wrote a more news worthy and more interesting article imagine what i could do when i got payed to find and write news articles !
