Windows 7 cant get rid of blank page covering desk top

Please can you help when I start my computer I have my desk top front page then after 2 minutes it dissapears and and I get a blank screen I have to hit F1 key or gwt windows task bar on to see my desktop. If I download I and put my curser on the download my desk top is there but when I take it off I just get this blank screen. How can I get rid of the blank page covering my desk top.

Thanks for that but when I go to task master there is no application to close, its got to be something simple i thought it was in the security somewhere but i can't find anything. any other suggestions.

Hi there,

Tell us about your computer, the manufalcturer, model #, laptop or desktop, plugged in or on batteries.
Also when was the last time it functioned normally?

It could be your blank screensaver has been set to start after a very short period of time.

Might go to you desktop, right click on an empty area, and choose Personalize. There click on Screensaver, check to see if you are using the blank screen and how long it waits before beginning.

Also for completeness, click on Power options, choose your power setting, and click on change my power settings, to see how long it is set before turning the monitor off.

Hello,
my computer is a digital desktop 2.8Ghz dual Core 4Gb Ram 600Gb hdd.

I bought it second hand as it was all I could buy on a sunday when my mot;her board went on the old computer.

It seems to be the blank page that comes up that it could be a blank internet page when I press ctrl F4 is goes away but every time I turn the computer on it comes up. and ocassionally when I am working on the computer it comes up but the ctrl F4 brings me back to m;y desk top. But the blank page is still there.

Do something constant, like surf the web and only do that. Ctrl+alt+del to open task manager and goto applications tab. Wait until the blank page appear again. If that happen, quickly take a look at the application running. If other application running other than your internet browser, then is the culprit.

I did all that and checked screensaver page, it is not a screensaver page It does it on start up and ocassionally when you click internet explorer. When I get blank page i go to task manager but there is nothing running. Its weird. but if I press Alt F4 it goes away.

the page is wjite nothing on it just a plain white screen. I am running a genuine windows 7 but the one installed on the computer previously was window 7 ultimate we loaded up the genuine windows 7 on top of it.

I only bought Windows 7 not 7 ulltimate and yes I have the key with the version I bought. I am too scared to do a fresh installation as I can't afford to lose all my licences for incredimail and malware I have already had to ask three times for activation codes to be sent through to me to reactivate and its taken all week to get it all of the licences back. If I reinstall windows 7 will I lose all of them again. I had to get my i.t. man to reinstall all my emails back. it has already cost me hundreds of dollars to get this far. I caqn get rid of the white page by presing alt F4 its just annoying.
