Windows 7 desktop icons deleted by themselves

Today when i started my pc, after inserting my password it says "preparing desktop" and then half of my desktop icons are deleted and desktop background is changed to black and all my game shortcuts in the start menu are also not there. All programs are working fine but why this happen?

Sound like you logged into a new user account. What do you see as far as accounts?

I am using the same account for last 2-3 months
