OK I PLACED THIS THREAD ON THE WRONG SECTION. Please move accordingly

Ok so i have a problem here playing MKV files from my external HDD.
Everytime when i click the MKV video, MPC-HC launches and after 2 seconds my computer becomes unresponsive and i can't do anything besides pressing the power button to force turn off the computer. NO BSOD. Just freeze.

The video is 1080p, it also has subtitles with styles. (you know those that are from those anime fansubs)

i tried copying the MKV video to my desktop (laptop HDD) and it plays just like normal?
Edit: ok even though i copy it to the desktop, it still freezes my computer.

I tried using vlc to play from the External HDD as well. it just get stuck at
"Generating Font Cache. This might take a minute". No freeze though, i can still close vlc.

i tried playing other video files like mp4, also 1080p, no subs. but it plays fine!
No freezes, just plays fine. (External HDD)

i tried playing a 480p MKV with subtitles NOT STYLED (just regular subs), plays fine as well. (External HDD) [this video i had just downloaded recently. then i moved it into the drive.]

I tried downloading another 1080p MKV and has subtitles with styles, plays fine as well. (laptop HDD)

So far i had not have any problem with the drive, i had loaded pictures and videos and music and pretty much everything i have in there.

Here are my laptop computer specs:
Intel Celeron 887 1.5GHz
4GB ram
Intel HD Graphics
Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit

The External drive is a 1TB Western digital blue 2.5 inch (NOT THE DESKTOP SIZE)

Could it be that the files were broken? i once had it in my laptop drive and it used to play fine.

Any Help is greatly appreciated.

Solution
Try the HDD connected to other system and check whether the same happens or not.
Download crystal disk info and check the health if the HDD. Bad sectors might be the cause too.

I don't really have another computer, but i connected the External HDD to my Nexus 7 (android) and all MKV files seems to play fine. (using MX Player on android). going to try crystal disk now

EDIT: ok i tried crystal disk. Both my laptop HDD and External drive health is good.

OK i tried copying some files to the External HDD, a folder in fact, with 500+ songs in there. around 4.5gb in size and i GOT A BLUE SCREEN. then i lost some files when i went back in the folder. (also i did not bluescreen when i copy 100gb+ of folders and pictures and a lot of stuff in the drive, all at the same time, not sure what is the problem here.) there is a .dmp file in my C:/windows/minidump folder. it said something about 0x00000050 ntoskrnl.exe+75bc0 blah blah blah. here is a screenshot from bluescreenview https://www.dropbox.com/s/ukaxah1729bs84c/yes.PNG?dl=0
