Windows 7 from Z97 to Z170 motherboard

I have windows 7 retail on a Z97 motherboard.
I would like to switch from a Z97 based system to Z170.
What are my chances on being able to boot on a Z170 replacement motherboard so I can install the proper drivers?
In the past, such a migration was easy since Z87 to Z97 booted.
Other times with more diverse chipsets such a boot did not work, the old os lacked the needed drivers. Booting from an amd cpu to a intel cpu invariably failed.
Of course, a new clean install is an option.
But, with a lot of apps and games installed, it would be a pain .

If windows 10 will boot on diverse chipsets, it could be an option to do a windows 10 upgrade first and then switch motherboards.

And... My retail windows 7 license is a 3 user family pack. Would a single windows 10 upgrade have any effect on the remaining two windows 7 computers?
