Windows 7 has less sound than xp

I have recently dual booted my system I have XP service pack 4 and windows 7 ultimate.Now the problem is that xp is much louder than this & i am using.I have Altec Lansing 2.1 speakers,that works decently when half tuned in XP ,but for 7 full volume is not enough.I have checked the master volume controls from the bottom right corner,and they are maximized.
I have realtek sound driver ,Intel DG4RQI motherboard.
Please help !!! Thanks in advance

I have thoroughly checked my realtek driver user interface and found a small button that says "EAR PROTECTION" .this was what that was limiting my sound volume output,now its ok I am getting loud sounds ,Thanks anyway guys !!
