Windows 7 home basic will not boot after activation

I recently got an activation code from a friend for windows 7, but when i installed it on my laptop it prompted for restart. The system will not boot again. The cursor will blink once at start-up but nothing shows, the screen is black, the nums. lock and caps lock are on.

Sorry to hear you screwed up. What is happening once you turn the power on?

Your best bet is probably going to be a 'restore to factory' re-install of your OEM Home Basic OS.
