Windows 7 Home Premium won't Lock

When I try to lock my computer, nothing happens. I can put it to sleep and turn it off, etc. but not lock. Anyone have any ideas why?

You need a password to lock the computer. Did you create one?

I've tried Windows + L and going to the start menu then locking from there

try this software to see if it works

its for auto shutdown--sleep-lock etc but it also has a manual lock and its free
