Windows 7 how can i get back a lost profile and all its settings

Hello,
Suddenly on Friday 13th July (is this merely a coincidence) my user profile - and I am the only user on this laptop vanished. Fortunately I had backed up 99% of my files BUT I have lost all my E-mail history and all my Firefox Bookmarks. I have rebuilt from what I have but am suffering still from vital lost information. Is there any where I can get it back without I hasten to add losing the new version I have built and worked with since 15th July!

Search and Check out file recovery software such as

Also, you may have been hit with malware that hid and moved the files.
Look for a utility named "Unhide" - www.bleepingcomputer.com

Thanks, I am trying that right now - the Unhide thingy that is.

I suppose you don't have a reccommendation to a good anti virus software? I have McAfee but obviously it didn't work!

Oh dear Unhide said it could not find anything hidden. I had a profile with naturally all my Firefox bookmarks and (most importantly) all my Thunderbird history of E-mails in Local folders. I cannot get either of these two back and that is my nightmare. Also one of my back up files was not com,plete....grrr it had to be the one for my tax details! Sigh. Anyone any other ideas?
