I just installed Windows 7 on my new pc and when I went to connect it to the internet through a wired connection, it says:
Windows did not detect a properly installed network adapter. If you have a network adapter, you will need to re-install the driver.
I am using the on-board Ethernet port so I am not sure what it means. I tried installing both internet drivers so its not that.

Solution
Internet drivers?

Look up your motherboard website (ie Asus.com / Gigabyte.com), go to the support/drivers page and download the network adapter driver for your OS. Windows 7 installs only basic network drivers and often does not work forcing you to use the driver 'CD' or using another computer to get the driver.
".. I tried installing both internet drivers so its not that. .."

go into device manager, find the network adapter. See if it shows working.

Did you load your MB chipset drivers (they come with MB, you should get most recent set from MB makers website) ?
