Windows 7 keeps failing updates

Hi there,

For the past few months (I've really only taken the initiative to do something about it now), Windows 7 (SP1) has been failing updates:

I've done some sleuthing, which has led to me trying the SFC (which finds nothing wrong), the System Update Readiness Tool (which installed the Windows hotfix KB947821 and nothing else) and attempting to restore health, which also failed.

I'm pretty good at following instructions set by people solving previous issues, but this is a bit beyond me as this is beyond my realm of familiarity.

If you could give me a hand, I'd really appreciate it!

Thanks for the reply!
I've given it a go just now with the following results:
- Windows Update error 0x80070490(2018-05-28-T-08_18_12P) - Not fixed
- Service registration is missing or corrupt - Fixed
- Problems installing recent updates - Fixed
- Problems installing recent updates - Fixed

Yes, that last one appeared twice. I'll see how it is tomorrow.

Tried the Windows Update Troubleshooter - no change, the updates failed again.

If it were me, I'd attempt to install a few updates individually, perhaps by date. You never know.

I've gone through all the steps but the last one, and no improvement.

The final step, for a system restore, won't work because it only allows me to restore to 3 places, all for June 3rd 2018 when I was attempting the steps - one for each time I restarted to try installing updates.

Not sure where to go from here.
