hello all! I have a toshiba satellite L505 GS6000 since 2010 and ever since a few months after I bought it it's lagging a lot. This is mainly while reproducing video and/or audio (even skype calls are affected by this), you see the video stopping every few seconds and the audio sounds kind of glitchy with popping sounds also constantly.
I was working for a while with music creation programs such as Cubase and FL studio and I think I pushed too hard of the sound card and that's why it happened (at least there is a correlation between the moment when I began using these softwares and the time qhere this lagging problem began). Because of that, I just stopped using these programs, but since I am a composer, I still use things like Sibelius 7, which is not so heavy, but still the lagging is very annoying because it distorts the sound.
I would like to know what do you recommend I should do to, first solve this issue and eliminate this lagging/glithcing problem, and second how can I avoid it happening again.
Thank you all so much! Have a great weekend.

Solution
for the hardware side, it would be hard to diagnose without proper comparison.

for the software, the accumulation of I/O conflict thru the span of usage will be hard to trace, since your also using different rendering softwares.

this may sound like a dead-end analysis, but for the sake of assuming that your laptop is not broken, try to a get the hard drive replaced and re-install windows and all your applications, (you can just use the old hard drive as storage), to see if the performance improve.

thanks for answering! I did already, but the issues were still there and even got worse after a while...
