Windows 7 Massive Delay at Welcome Screen

Hello. I use GT70 barebone laptop. The laptop has two same 7200 RPM HDDs. One for the system and other for the storage purpose.

I have a big problem with Windows 7's desktop boot time. As mentioned, the OS (Windows 7 SP1 Ultimate x64, MSDN version, no UEFI) has installed into relatively fast 7200 RPM HDD (Here its bench results: http://i.imgur.com/9BV76p0.png).

It boots fine about 20-22 sec until Welcome Screen appears. Then it waits for 30 sec to get desktop. It is extremely troublesome. Even my old desktop doesn't hang at Welcome Screen that much.

MSConfig is clean, there is only touchpad and sidebars in startup. Task scheduler is clean too. I also disabled all the services except Microsoft's from MSConfig and restart but it had no posivite effect.

I also heard that there is a bug. If the background is set to solid color then it waits 30 seconds to get desktop. I don't use solid color background, as you can see in my video I use Windows 7's wallpaper. I tried Microsoft's hotfix for it but it gives me error that this hotfix is not for my system so I understand from that SP1 already has this hotfix.

This situation has been there all the time since I bought this laptop. I don't know what to do. I'm humbly asking for your help. I will be very appreciated. Thank you very much.

Thank you for your reply. I looked into it, there are a lot of warnings and errors but the most interesting log says that BackgroundPrefetchTime delays the launch of the system about 40 seconds!!! Do you know what the *** is this?

Okay, I am able to get tiny (90,6 kb) summary_boot.xml file from full boot trace. I uploaded it to mediafire.com:

There is also full boot trace file which I also able to zipped it with 7zip and it is now 55 mb. I will begin to upload the file two hours later. Please take a look at xml file while I'm out. Sorry for message bumps by the way. 🙁

Make sure the hdd is the bootdisk in the BIOS. If its on anything else it can add 20 -25 secs to the boot time.

I wouldnt disable anything in the registry. I would install ccleaner if it isnt installed. Click on advanced so you dont install Google Chrome. Then go to tools/startup, uninstall, and scheduled tasks. Click on save to txt file. Post all of them here

How can I make sure that the bootdisk is in the BIOS?

I reverted the registry change because it has no positive or negative effects so I leave it as default. Sure, I use CCleaner for a very long time. Very useful software. Here is the contents of txt file:

Yes, I did it yesterday actually.

No, just the language pack. Other than that it is SP1. I tried to update once but it just worsened the startup. I had to back to my old OS backup to get rid of it.

I don't know. I don't want to update because I am afraid that it will mess up to my system again. I don't have any problems about neither general performance nor security except that massive delay at windows screen. I'll do updates if you insist though I need to backup my whole system first.

I updated my system with Windows Update today (total 169 update). As predicted, it perfectly messed up my system. The boot time has doubled and the sidebars became broken. Thanks a bunch Microsoft, LOL. Luckily, I did a full backup just before I download and install the updates. Acronis True Image is an amazing software. I was able to get my old system within 15 minutes.

So... Any other not-useless suggestions?

I don't know. I sent full boot trace file and also its tiny summary file to couple of forums about what is going on. It only hangs at Welcome Screen for 25-30 seconds. There are no other big problems. Is my HDD slow? What is your complete boot time with a HDD?

Very nice. My problem probably comes from software due to your results. But which one? I also disabled all services except Microsoft's and restart but the delay at welcome screen stays the same level.

Hmm I took your first boot time (10-15 sec) with a HDD, not an SSD. Hard disk I own is one of the fastest hard disk on the laptops. There isn't much 2.5 inch 1 TB hard disk with 7200 rpm. What bothers me is that pre-boot takes nearly 20 seconds but then it hangs for 30 seconds. Is it normal, even for a HDD?
