I bought an Atech Flash PROGear XM-5U 26-in-1 USB 2.0 Internal Flash Memory Card Reader. I have windows 7 64bit. The only way I can get it to work, is if I eject the media then re-insert, or if I reboot with the media in the drive.
I'm not quite with you. If you start with the media not in the drive, doesn't it recognize it when you insert it? Are you saying you have to insert it twice?
That is correct. When I boot up (no media card in drive) it thinks there is one in the drive and I have to select eject, even though there is no card in the drive, then put one in for it to recognize it.
Have you looked in the device manager to see if it's detected when it's not plugged in? You may want to do this and uninstall it and reinstall it once you plug it in. See if that could work.

Ryan,
Thank you for the suggestion. That was a good idea. Unfortunately, it did not work. Windows does not recognize it, unless it's plugged in. I tried uninstalling the drivers, then re-installing, but that didn't work either. It may be a problem with my media card reader. For now, I will just continue fo insert the media card, select eject through windows, then insert again. One thing I did notice is that none of the cards (msd, sd, cf, etc.) will not work unless I do this. However, the USB port on the card reader works just fine.
