Windows 7 Media Player stops working after upgrade

This morning my Windows program updated. When I tried to play a video later on it wanted me to choose regular or custom install. It would not let me do a custom so I did the regular install. Now it won't play mp4's and other formats.
How can I un-install and go back to my old reliable version?

I found VLC player to be a better option
