every other USB device gets detected... keyboard.. mouse.. gopro cam.. hard drive..

but it NEVER detects the webcam... I plug it in.. and nothing... I just upgraded my system new motherboard.. CPU.. memory... HDD... ram... and it still does not ever detect the webcam.. it was the same way on my old system as well... It USED to work on my old system.. then one day it just stopped...

How can this is even possible? that windows detects all other USB devices when plugged in except a webcam?????????

Indeed, as johnny said - - you have to first rule out the possibility that the webcam may be shot by trying it on at least one other PC, or borrow another known-working webcam & see if your PC detects it.. Either way will prove whether or not your wasting your time trying to get a dead webcam to work.

Dead webcam is very likely if it suddenly stopped working on your old rig & still doesn't work on your new one.

its not that because I bought a brand new webcam on my old system and it wouldn't work either.. I thought it was just a bad webcam but it wasn't... the new one connected for like a split second then froze up and never worked again... so I then figured it was just some hardware problem and it would work fine after updating to a new system... but when I plug in my original webcam nothing happens.. Windows should detect the new hardware then automatically install the drivers.. but it does nothing..

and this is on a clean install of windows 7 with all new PC hardware

well I got a message from windows when I plugged the cam into a 2.0 usb port which said something about the device not working properly so I just ordered a Logitech C270 webcam for 16 bucks on Ebay... i'll let you know what happens with that one. It should be here oct 10'th.

and my new hardware/pc specs are:

Intel Core i5-6600K 6M Skylake Quad-Core 3.5 GHz LGA 1151
ASRock Z170 Gaming K6+ LGA 1151 Intel Z170 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
CORSAIR Vengeance LPX 16GB (4 x 4GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3200 (PC4 25600)
