Windows 7 new build question

I am going to upgrade my systems motherboard,cpu and ram and do a fresh install of windows 7 64bit. My question is after I have my new computer built can I just put in windows 7 and it will automatically detect my hard drive so I can install it or do I have to do something in the bios before I load windows 7. Basicly what im asking is once computer is built can i toss the windows 7 cd in and everything should be good to go or do I have to do other things first?

You need to go into your BIOS and make sure that your CD/DVD drive is defined as the first bootable device.

If you only have one hard disk, the BIOS should detect it as the main one, no problem.

With multiple disks, you can also configure the BIOS to set which one is the main one. But it's preferable to connect the main disk to the SATA 0 port (first SATA port) on your motherboard.

But basically you shouldn't have anything to do, or what I like to do is just check the BIOS before installing to make sure it detects all your hardware properly. And maybe one other detail, make sure that the SATA mode is set to AHCI in the BIOS it should give better performance for your hard disk, but if it's a new generation motherboard it should be like that by default, but just check in case.

Yea it will be a new generation motherboard. I am not 100% sure which one I will be getting yet.
