Windows 7 no operating system error

Hello,
i have an hp pavilion that fell down, now when i turn it on in order to to boot from the hard drive i need to put booting cd (windows booting disk)to boot up the hard drive or it gives me an error message (no operating system found). anyone is familiar with this problem plz let me hear from you

it sounds like your Hard drive is damaged.

use a Linux Live CD to boot into linux and see if you can still access your data.

after that go to the hard drive manufacturer website and download their diagnostic software
