Windows 7 none of my usb ports work

My laptop is fully functional aside from the USB ports. I can still use the keyboard and use the touchpad, but this morning when I went to plug in my thumbdrive and my usb mouse, a window popped up that stated that the device drivers were not sucessfully installed. I went to the device manager and all three of my usb ports were unrecognized. I tried searching online for the software but the computer states that all drivers are up to date. I then uninstalled the usb drivers and rebooted the computer (in the hopes that windows would then automatically install the drivers), only to encounter the same problem.

Any ideas?

You probably need to install the motherboard's chipset drivers. Look them up on Intel/AMD's site or on the laptop manufacturer's support page.

Thanks Jedi, but I actually solved the problem. I was looking around at other posts related to this and found one that recommended I turn off the computer, unplug the battery wait a minute, and then plug in the battery and reboot. This seemed to have solved the problem
