Windows 7 refuses to ask me for my password upon wakeup from sleep mode (not hibernation mode).
An administrator password for the account is set and the option to ask upon wakeup in the Power Settings is set to ask, though it never asks.
Thank you for your time in advance.

Hello lpcrierie,

To put a password in Sleep Mode:
- Click Start Button
- Type Power Options and press Enter
- A pop-up Power Options window will appear
- On the left side pane, click "Require a password on wake-up"
- Click Require a password (recommended) radio button, then click Save Changes.

If the radio button is unavailable to select, click the "Changes settings that are currently unavailable" over the Power and sleep button settings.

Did you check if you were actually is sleep mode and not just monitor power saving or something similar? Turn off all power saving options, then manually put the computer in Sleep mode from the start menu, and try again. Does the system ask for the password when you turn it on? If not, you need to set it so it does.

If you read my previous post, you'd know that I have set it so that it does.
But yes, I always manually chose Sleep from the start menu and I prefer performance by default so I already had all power saving options off.
