I just rebuilt a computer, or should I say built. New MB, etc. The problem is that the hard drive is only showing as 128G, not the full terabyte that it's suppose to be.

I have looked in disk management and it does show 932.51GB but in explorer it only shows 128G useable.

How do I get the full amount to show and be useable?

btw, it is a sata drive hooked up via sata card (I only had 2 sata hookups available on the MB)

Thank you!
Lisa C.

Hope you can see that okay. If not, let me know, I can get a shot closer up.

Disk 0 is Volume F: I know there were 2 partitions on the drive (in the computer that died, drive worked fine, mb died) but now only one shows, can't get the other to show and the part that does show only shows as 128G. I didn't want to lose all my data but if I must, I will not get upset about it.

The only thing that shows up when right clicking the drive is: Open, explore, Format, change drive letter, shrink, delete volume, properties.

Thank you!

Ah yea i see there at the top. Only showing 128GB.

Can you even open the F Drive?

download the crystal disk info in my signature. just the standards installer edition. open that up and let me know if the drives show all good.

Also open up a Command Prompt with Admin Rights and type in Diskpart and then List Disk ...Does it show Disk 0 as the 1Tb or does it show 128GB?

Disk 0 shows 931 GB

Crystal Disk Info show both drives are good. (Disk 0: 1000.2GB)

Yes, I can open the F: drive. I do Properties and it says 127GB free space and 93.7MB used.

I love you in a purely platonic "I never met you but you helped fix a problem" way. That strangely worked. It saves me from taking the drive out, putting in the middle of the road and letting cars drive over it.

Thank you!!

haha you're welcome! I had the same issue with a client while back and their 3TB backup drive. For some reason the server only saw it as 736GB (Even in disk management and i couldn't restart their server so i too it back to my office) My PC read it as the 3TB in Raw Format, Ran a chkdsk, fixed the files, and the server saw the whole thing.
