Dear Sir/Madam:

I have brand a new Gateway NV50A with Windows 7 Professional 64 bit.
I tried to partition the C Drive with 450GB to make another partition
using Spotmau 2009. It displayed a window --that the system needs to
restart for partioning. So I clicked on yes. After that it tried to
restart and just stops on a blank Spotmau screen doing nothing(Spotmau Powersuite 2009 --Is a computer software used for
partitioning and cloning).

I tried to restart and bypass this window and start windows.
But it doesn't work. I don't want to lose any data. I don't have a
Windows 7 Installation CD.

Please help me sir.

Thank you so much in advance for the help.
Regards,

See if you can get your hands on some kind of boot disk for Windows or pretty much any Linux distro. You don't have to actually install anything, we just want to boot from the disk and get to the point where it is showing the available partitions. If the partitions appear normal, then you probably just need to fix the MBR, which will require a Windows 7 installation disk. Boot it up, go to the recovery console, select Fix MBR.
Full instructions for repairing the MBR can be found here: http://www.tomshardware.com/news/win7-windows-7-mbr,10036.html

Let me know if that still does not work.

Hi there any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you So much for the Information. I tried to use a disk for Booting
and I could see the available partiitons. Everything appears Normal.

I am not sure if I try to fix MBR manually at the command prompt
using a Boot Disc is going to invalidate my Legal License (make my License as a 30 day free trial) for Microsoft
Windows 7 Professional 64 bit by running the commands--

bootrec.exe /fixmbr
bootrec.exe/fixboot

I tried to see the error I got on Startup and I noted down the
message--

Try (hd0, 0); NTFS5: No grldr
Try (hd0, 1); NTFS5: No grldr
Try (hd0, 20: NTFS5

Booting GRLDR
Turning on gate A20.... success

Booting 'Spotmau LiveCD'
Next after this it was simply stuck at Spotmau screen doing nothing

I also tried System Restore Disc which I created in Windows 7
but it doesn't work.

I tried Startup repair using System Restore Disc--Clicked on startup
repair.

The message I got is--
Root cause found:
No OS files on disk
Repair action: partiiton table repair
Result: Failed error Code:0x490
Time taken=1997ms

I tried to reboot several times . It is simply showing spotmau blank
screen doing nothing .

I' sorry I don't have Windows 7 Professional Installation Disk.

Running the fix mbr commands will not do anything to your windows license. All it does it fix the mbr file that tells the computer where the OS resides on the disk...

Hi there any help is appreciated.

(I am not able to Boot into windows 7 ( I have a brand New Gateway NV50A).
When I boot into the computer
it goes straight into a Window titled Spotmau
(Actually while I was in Windows 7 I tried to run Spotmau Powersuite 2009 software for partitoning my Hard disk into two partitions.

Spotmau said-- A restart is needed to continue the Disk partitioning
as some programs are still running.

So I restarted my computer. And after that I am stuck there
every time I boot my computer and try to enter Windows
so that I can restore to the previous version and discard any changes I made.

I don't have any Spotmau Software in the CD Drive When I restart
the Computer. But still it is saying Booting Spotmau Live CD..

and after that it is in a blank Spotmau Screen doing nothing.
So I kept on restarting with a Boot disc to enter Windows
But it doesn't let me enter.

Is there anyway I can stop Spotmau --Disk partioning Screen
appearing as soon as I start my Computer so that I can enter Windows.
I am not sure how to do that...

I appreciate very much the info you've given earlier. Please let me know.

Thanks & regards,
ikorimilli

It looks like it might have changed the MBR to boot it to that partitioning software. At this point, if you cannot repair the MBR to point to Windows, I would have to recommend formatting the hard drive and reinstalling Windows.

I hope someone else has a better solution...
