Hello, i bought my grandma a 2014 laptop, i'm a mac user so i don't quite understand how windows 7 and 10 compared.

this is the spec i got from the sticker:
-Intel Pentium 2020m 2,4Ghz
-Nvidia GT610M 2GB
-4GB RAM DDR3

it came without any OS so i need to buy it and install it, please help me figure this out.

Solution
I wouldn't install Windows 7 since it only supported by Microsoft for 1 more year from now.
You should use Windows 10 or a simple Linux like Linux Mint Mate (Windows like Linux for lower specs hardware)

10 because it will be supported unlike 7 which ends support next year. Also maybe upgrade it with an ssd because 10 is incredibly slow on a hdd and a low spec laptop like that isn't going to help it.

Even if it did not come with the OS, there should be a OS license sticker on the system, otherwise you just spend money on the wrong laptop since a new Windows license is about $100. For another $100 you could have bought a newer or faster laptop with Windows installed. What OS did the system come with originally?
