Right now I have Windows 7 on my HDD and I'm looking into getting a SSD just for windows. My question is is there a way I can get windows on my SSD and still keep everything on my HDD. I have the installing disc for windows as well.
I did this migrating my win7 disk to the new ssd using samsungs data magician tool --- when the clone is complete i disconnected the hard drive and booted to windows flawlessly using the ssd. If you wish you can then hot plug your old drive in to access data on it (make sure you're in ahci mode)- although the ssd will have all of the same info - for now I'm keeping mine for disaster recovery - but all has been well for 2 mos.
If you want just windows on the ssd you could delete all else from the ssd - you still have the hard drive ....this would save the hassle of applying all of those updates to a fresh install .... remember your installed programs will have to be re-installed though if you don't keep them on the ssd. a clean win install will require you to apply all win updates and a re-installation of all your progs.
