[SOLVED] Windows 7 PC freeze randomly when idle

Every time I download a large file I will leave my PC for downloading. But every time I came back the PC had already freeze. This also happens when I just sit in front of the computer watching a movie, it will just freeze randomly. Can anyone help me? Thanks for replying. I have installed GPUz and as I can see the GPU temp is around 66degree Celcius and CPU temp is around 36. It is pretty stable around that value.

Power supplies can fail. Since you experience the freezes while down loading big files and watching movies, it could be when the PSU is being taxed, it starts to fail. I will try to clean install my video drivers first. If the PSU really failed, what is the possible solution? Do I need to change the PSU? Since I am not good with handling computer's hardware I don't think it is possible for me.

You can always take your PC to a computer repair shop and they can test your PSU. If the PSU is bad, then yes to need to open the case and pull off most of the wiring.

Yes it only happens when idling. When I am playing games, etc. it never freeze. I have set the sleep, etc. to never but the problem still exists.
