Installed updates and after the reboot a warning message is up saying pc video resolution is out of range, change setting to recommended resolution 1280X1024@60Hz, and the rest of the screen is black.
try booting into safe mode and roll back the graphics driver by pressing f8 at boot up
I do not see that option, it shows the following:
Please select boot device
1st FLOPPY DRIVE
SATAM-ST3500418AS
CDROM:SM-HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GH22NS
IDE:Maxtor 6Y160P0

you may have a motherboard that uses f8 as the boot menu--bit stupid really not to use f12 etc as all windows use the f8 key to get to usefull options
but just select whichever hard drive your windows is on probably the sata on and once it comes out of the boot menu press f8 again as its going to load the operating system then

I had f8 pressed during the start up, and it is asking to select boot device ( one of the four listed previously). I tried the first two and nothing changed, the same warning is dancing around the black screen, the PC video resolution is out of range.....
it should be the 2nd or 4th one you listed earlier they are both hard drives--or try f5 that may also give you the safe mode option--just continously tap the key if you only press it once you may do it too soon or too late

my apologies for the late reply, booting up in safe mode successful, however, was not able to restore to previous date, so I had to take it in to the experts. Don't have it back yet, hopefully I will have some results soon.
