Windows 7 product key not working

I'm looking to install Windows 7 on a new SSD I bought. However, when I try and download the Windows 7 ISO from https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows7 it says: 'The product key you've entered appears to be for software which was pre-installed by the device manufacturer. Please contact the device manufacturer for software recovery options.'

At that price it is a dodgy key and from your description my guess is its an OEM licence for builders and wasn't meant for resale.

Since it comes from amazon, write to the seller and keep conversation on amazon so they don't try to do anything dodgy. If they don't fix the issue or the key is illegal, they have to refund you.

Unfortunately, that's what happens when you cheap out on a Windows license.

You purchased an OEM license for some other hardware, that was originally from some other manufacturer.
Microsoft expects you to get the install ISO from them.

Get your money back.
