Windows 7 professional usb 2 0 to ide & sata cable driver

I have 2 desktops that both use windows 7 professional. I am able to use an external usb 2 to sata hdd w/o problems on one desktop. The other has problems accessing programs on the usb 2 to sata. I have not been able to find any fixes. Help!

There is no such thing as a "USB 2.0 to IDE/SATA driver."

If the SATA drive is in an external enclosure, plugging into the PC via USB, then the probelm is the USB drivers.

Check to make sure ALL USB ports are enabled in the BIOS. And if you have an aftermarket controller, make sure the drivers are install. But Windows should do that upon boot up.

So maybe it's the USB port itself. Make sure all the cables are plugged into, including the front panel cables to the motherboard. Check the ports with a thumb/flash drive to see if it works.

@Richard, try an USB port which comes straight off the motherboard, not on the front panel of the desktop.
