Windows 7 random freezes/crashes with custom built PC

Hello,
I built a budget gaming PC about 7 months ago. It has worked great, until the used WD Green HDD I had failed. So I bought a WD 1TB Black a month and a half ago, reinstalled Windows 7 64 HP and all my drivers, and for the past couple days I have gotten two blue screens and about 8 random freezes that never unfreeze, even when left overnight. Unfortunately, I was not paying much attention to the blue screens, and they disappeared within about a minute, so I don't know the crash number or anything. The random freezes are a bit strange, they all happened within half hour of my computer being turned on. My computer is fully functional, and is not sluggish in any way, and then all of a sudden, usually when loading a web page, everything freezes(the screen does not update, besides the mouse), except for the mouse. For instance, if I am using Chrome and I make a search, everything may freeze but my mouse, and when I scroll over any buttons on Chrome or Windows 7 itself that usually become highlighted, nothing happens. Several seconds later, my mouse will not respond either. What is strange is that no tabs or windows that I have open gray out like they usually do when they freeze/crash, they remain their natural color.

I have ran Windows tests on both my RAM and HDD. I ran the RAM test(mdsched.exe) twice, with no reported errors. I ran the HDD test(C:/Properties/Tools/Error-checking) once, which oddly took around 2.5 hours, yet Windows did not find any errors. During the HDD error checking, certain files/segments or whatever it was loading seemed to take far too long, about 2-3 minutes.

Can anyone help me at all? I am having a lot of trouble narrowing down the problem! I don't know if it is a problem with the hardware, or a driver, or whatnot. I heard that Chrome has caused freezes/crashes like these, but even after uninstalling, my computer froze again.

If another blue screen comes up, I will be sure to copy any info I see! Thank you for your time

UPDATE: I have been running in Safe Mode w/out networking or anything safely for almost an hour, no crashes. So it is looking like maybe a driver issue.

Hey there, ProGaminGranny!

What was the test tool that you used for the HDD?
I'd suggest you to try it again with WD's Data LifeGuard diagnostics utility:
http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=fTJHyb
This will let you know what's the drive's health status. You should run the extended test as well as the short one, just for your peace of mind.

As for finding out which driver is causing the BSOD crashes and freezes, I'd suggest to check this tutorial: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/faq/id-2005670/fix-blue-screen-death-bsod-windows.html
and this thread:

Hope this helps! Keep me posted! :)
