Windows 7 Regedit not opening

When I try to open regedit, no matter what I do it won't open, even if I use CMD and run as admin it won't open. What can I do besides a fresh install to fix it? Thanks a lot

Nope, nothing it just doesn't open

No, nothing at all, the system keeps running and same with all the programs

So i was eager(very impatient) to play GTA V and so i was searching around and came across this

There has been a rash of bogus GTA V installs messing with the Registry.

one of my friends gifted it to me over steam
I didn't know that it was messing with the registry

My registry didn't open, even before I installed GTA, but I think this problem was just there and I guess it never really bothered me because I didn't need it until after getting GTA. That's all that I can think of. Thanks
