Windows 7 reporting wrong hard disk free space

404(partition size) - 119(used space) = 285
But for some reason it only shows 194 of available free space. Any help would be appreciated

what the exact model of the hdd or sdd?
did any health check on it?

Bear in mind that none of these tools can look into directories where the administrator account (yes, there are places Admin can't look) does not have permissions. One example is the hidden "System Volume Information" directory, where your system restore points are stored. Only the "System" account has permissions there and it will always show 0 bytes to all others, even when there are several GB stored in there. And I wouldn't go messing around with permissions on any of those locations unless you have verified backups at the ready.

For months now windows kept bugging me on every startup to let it do some sort of check and I always cancelled. By letting it happen today the problem was solved. Thanks for the help though.
