Windows 7 setup was unable to create a new system partition

hey guys i just got the new computer it's config is like this

Processor : core i5 2400
Motherboard: intel DH67BL-B3

i have got two sata hard disks from my previous build (250GB and 2TB)

in the 2Tb drive i had my previous installation of windows 7
but when i boot from that hard disk it runs fine till windows logo comes but after that blue screen comes and
tells something about hard disk

so i decided to install windows freshly on my 250GB hard disk(have not connected 2TB hard disk at all) .I deleted all the partitions from the hard disk and recreated the primary drives when i click next
it gives the message like ''windows 7 setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing system partition''

i am sure that their is nothing wrong with hard drives because i was able to install windows on that disk with this new computer .for more information i am using USB drive to install windows as i don't have sata dvd drive
i also ran MemTest86+ and found no error so anything is not wrong with RAM

so how to solve this problem i can't wait to play games on my new computer


please help you experts

Hello,

That's because the drive was partitioned prior to the Win-7 install. What you want to do, to have Win-7 install the 100MB MS hidden system reserved partition before the OS partition, is to start over as a clean installation. Choose Custom (Advanced), then when you come to the 'where do you want to install windows?' Delete all the partitions on this 250GB drive.

Also not have any other HDD connected, and if possibly make the USB drive folder Read Only, so the MS reserved partition doesn't get placed on it. Do you by chance have the DVD installation disk if need be?

Give that a try, and if all goes well, in Disk Management, you will see a 'hidden' MS reserved 100MB system partition, followed by your Win-7 OS, boot...

I have this exact problem. In two days I've found nothing that even phases it.

System:

Win7 Pro - to be installed, on USB

2500K
AsRock Z68 Extreme4 Gen3
Mushkin Enhanced PC2133
Seagate Momentus 5400.3 160gb (temporary, new drive was DOA).

I have tried installing drivers from the included disc. Some make the SATA drives disappear, others do nothing

I have tried different hard drives and get one of two errors/bugs:

1) Error 0X8030001
2) System cannot find partition ect.

I have no idea what else to try.

Any help would be appreciated.

As John VanKirk stated, you need to delete all existing partitions first during a custom install.

When you say "delete all partitions", would using another PC, and disk management, to eliminate all partitions work?

I've done this.

Further, I've deleted the partitions during the Win7 install.

If you have an XP machine or any computer that has diskpart, you can use the "clean" command on the drive and this should fix it. Make sure you have the correct disk selected first.

clean [all]

Use the clean command to remove partition or volume formatting from the current in-focus disk by zeroing sectors. By default, only the MBR or GPT partitioning information and any hidden sector information on MBR disks is overwritten. If you specify the all parameter, each and every sector can be zeroed, and all data that is contained on the drive can be deleted.

You mean, don't clean my operational OS? For some reason I busted up laughing when I read that.

This is the one thing I haven't tried yet, so with any luck at all...........

There is conclusion.

The problem had nothing to do with the hard drive. I grabbed a WIN7 install disk, as I had been using a USB, and that worked like a charm. Of course there was then the problem that I had formatted over the previous XP install about 20 times so WIN7 didn't let me use my key.

If you find yourself in this situation you are left with two choices:
1) Reinstall XP, then reinstall WIN7. It should work.
2) Use a workaround in the registry. The legality of this is debatable. Personally, if I had an XP license and I ended up losing it in the install I don't see how it could possibly be illegal.
