Windows 7 sleep mode

Hi fellas, I was just wondering if theres any mode in win7 that does not stop my programs from running while downloading or copying a big file. I wanna download a certain file but i takes a hell a lot of time plus i dont wanna keep the computer running so anyone would get on it cuz i have an annoying little brother that deletes folders and fucks up my computer, so ive set up a password for my account when i use the block or even sleep mode they stop my download. any help thanks c:

You can lock the computer but you can not put it into sleep mode and still be able to download the file.

You can set the computer to lock after so long of a timeout, or you can hit windows key + L to manally lock the computer.
